Neighborhood Diner

Recently, my front yard tree became a host to some winter robins. They take their fill of berries from the tree, then fly to the gutter to have a little drink.  These birds are so heavy, they look about ready to burst. Last year, there were dozens that descended upon the tree and fleeced it in a couple of hours. Not a single berry was left.  This year, there were only about 6 of them and they were feasting for days.  We were having a fine misty snow when they came by the other day.  Click on the pictures to see them better.  I love those red berries against the gray sky.

Belly up to the bar.

The berries are gone now, and so are the birds.  They've left little in their wake except their own droppings.  Talk about poor manners!

Dine, drink, drop and dash. Sounds a little like some people I know:)

Haha...laughing at flydragon's comment. The other day I took photos of almost the identical pictures you took. Our winter skies look very much the same and the robins were what prompted me wanting to take the picture. I am starting to see more of the beauty of winter than I used to...don't know why.

Brenda, I laughed at flydragon too. She's very funny.

Winter is beautiful-except when I'm out driving in it. Sort of like I was last night and will be tonight. We're supposed to get 2-4 inches of snow tonight and the same tomorrow. At least I don't have to go out in it tomorrow.

I love your photos! ohh but cold looking.

How rude of them to eat and leave. Mine do the same thing.

Sandy, it's freezing, and snowing. ugh.

These gray skies make a nice backdrop. Glad they're good for something. Waiting on the freezing rain for tomorrow morning that the weather guy says won't be too much of a problem since it's the weekend...think he also said tough luck to you hospital workers but it was a little mumbly:>)

Be safe distracted. Again, it took me 2.5 hours to drive 42 miles tonight during a rush hour snowstorm. We hates it. Right now, it's almost midnight and time for a glass of wine.

That's the downside of feeding anything that is alive... the poop afterwards!

I'm glad the berries are there for the eating. Nice photos.

Pretty shot of the berries; thanks for sharing. The previous owners of our house planted only things that were good for butterflies or birds but I haven't been good at photographing them. Maybe I'll pay closer attention.
