Peat and Repeat

Duplicate Day is a code I have for my husband when he is approaching that point where he'll be stepping on my last nerve.  Since he has talent for doing this on a daily basis, I started using my code daily.  If he pissed me off, I'd say, "gee, it's gonna be a duplicate day."  I use it interchangeably as code for boredom.  It's a Duplicate Day, oh don't you feel it?  It's a Duplicate Day-don't let it get away (sung to U2's Beautiful Day).  The repetition of the daily grind is sometimes more than I can bear and it's begun to seep into my little pastime.   This has lead to castonitis with my knitting.  Bored?  Let's cast on something new and ignore that bunch of knitting in the corner that is lying there unfinished.

I don't know what has happened to my knitting drive.  I've misplaced it.  Oh, I do it alright, here and there, but not like I had been.  Shhhhhh.  Don't tell anyone but, I think I'm bored with it all and this worries me.  What's up with this?  Is it the repetition of projects?  I finished one this month.  The thrummed mittens.  I'm not getting that warm fuzzy feeling that knitting usually brings me.  I can't get excited about any of it.  Sh*t.  Is there a doctor I can call about this malady?  Do you think casting on for something will help?  Or should I buckle down and finish one of those projects just lying about the joint?  Do you think that will give me a sense of accomplishment?  I'm just not certain.  The last time I laid down my knitting needles, it was 25 years before I picked them back up.  I can't even begin to go there.

What do you do when what you usually do for entertainment begins to bore you?  How do you get those feelings of satisfaction back?

Well, since I have a million things sitting around unfinished, doubt that I should be giving any advice. But it doesn't bother me too much. I remember when I turned 50, it was the hardest age of my life. Maybe I will do a blog about that. I just wondered if your boredom had something to do with your age. It was for me. Also, I did not know Hall and Oates did "You've Lost That Loving Feeling". One of my husband's favorite songs, but by the Righteous Brothers. He likes Hall and Oates so I'll have to tell him they did it too.

Why am I always the first one to comment on everyone's blogs...you would think I don't have a life or something. Ha.

I dealt with the turning 50 thing when I was 48. Thought I was 49 and going to turn 50. I lost a whole year. I don't think it's that. I think maybe I'm just tired-as in exhausted. Next year, I'll take 2 days off after the 3 day or maybe a week! I'll work it around a vacation or something.

I love Hall and Oates Brenda and I'm with you on the always first to post thing. I do that a lot too. It's ok. It's good to be first.

I got like that last week, didn't want to do anything "crafty" at all. Went and read the feeling out of my system. After 4 or 5 books, I'm ready to getting stitching and knitting again-still got a pile of things to finish tho

If I knew the answer to that one, I'd get my behind up and finish the cleaning I started on Monday after work!!!!! I think we all go through times like that. It's our perogative, as women, to start & stop things at any time we want too! There......not stop feeling guilty. You'll get that "loving feeling" back for your knitting.

I love Brenda's comment about being the first to comment......"you would think I don't have a life or something". Haaaaa.....this IS my life with my grandchildren thrown in there too and of course that job that pays the bills.

I get like that at work...Today I watched the market. Cleaned out some desks.(anybody need a pen; stapler; three hole punch..File folders) and I looked for a job.
Best thing to do is go to Dearborn and recharge them Lebaneese batteries. Are you game?

I always blame it on the barometric pressure.
Years and years ago all the RNs in the ICU where I worked took extra, extra B vitamins for stress and nerves. End result--we were still irritable. Lesson learned--it's them, not us.
On another note, saw this on ABC news tonight and signed up.

It must be that time of year. I stopped working on M#1's second handwarmer half way through because I dropped a stitch and have to fix it and can't focus. Started the scarf for M#2, and so far have bought 3 additional balls of yarn for it---just for the fringe!!!! WTF?? That's just stupid. My point is,.....it's that time of year. Huh? I'm a little scattered.

Oh good everyone. At least I'm not alone. Especially amongst you knitters. It must be something in the air. Tomorrow morning, after my morning coffee, I'm going to bust out of this knitting drought by at least casting on the sleeves to my pink sweater. If it had been handy, I'd have worn it today-it's cold.

Distracted, I'm going to look more in depth at that site. I glanced at it but will read more tomorrow. Thanks for the link.

I go buy a new book and wait for my mojo to return.

It's normal Rudee, especially at this time of year I think. Be kind to yourself and your spirit will return.

I'm taking Mrs. G's and Expats advice. Today, I went and got a massage. Later, I'm going to stop and buy myself something fun to read.

Well I enjoyed reading it but I have no advice for you...wait a minute...I give into the boredom until I can't stand it anymore, take a long walk and sometimes, I get inspired again.

But I always like reading what you write even if you are bored right now!!ha.
