Cleaning House

Here is a picture of my shiny and fresh smelling Dukealicious. He isn't too happy with any of us today because we loaded him up with Tramadol and took him to the Salon de Beastie for a little freshening up. He was smelling more of goat than dog. He despises getting a bath which is why I don't do it myself. It's too much of a battle. The last two times he's been dragged into the place, he's chewed through his leash. Next time, he goes with a heavy rope. As I write this, he is passed out on the sofa. What a stoner.

I'm falling way behind on the knitting front. I think it's because I can't stop starting new things. From this point forward, I'll start nothing new until I finish up what needs finishing. Yeah right. Unfortunately, I can't seem to stop buying yarn either. I'm like a squirrel trying to pack the yarn away for a rainy day. Well, it can start raining any day now and I won't run out of yarn until the 12th of Never.

Here is the election day hat. I've not worked on it for a couple of days because frankly, it was moving along too fast and I wanted to savor it. I'm ready to do the shaping along the top of the hat-another 15 rows and it's done. It is so soft and pretty. I can't wait to go out and vote in this.

OK, here is clapotis which I've been working on feverishly. I thought I'd like to take it to Virginia with me next weekend. It's a misshapen blob of yarn right now but have faith! When I bind it off and give it a bath, I'll block it and this piece will have a different shape. The yarn has been wonderful to work with and I know I have enough to knit a sweater from this stuff.

Speaking of sweaters, I bought the yarn for this one last January. I've knit the sweater. I've washed and blocked it. I did that in June. It is still sleeveless, but look! The yarn, the needles and the pattern have moved closer together. Does that mean a complete little wrap is in my future? Do you think I can finish Clapotis, the sweater and the hat all in the same week? I'm not so sure, but I'll be darned if I cast on for another thing before I do.

Let's not talk about the green sweater for my daughter-even though I've started the hem. In addition, do not mention the afghan I started for her almost 2 years ago and got bored with, or the 2 different pairs of socks I've got going (and really, these UFOs are only the tip of the iceberg). Sunday, I'm cleaning out the yarn bins and deciding which objects are going to be finished and which ones I'll frog and make into something different. Clearly, I have an OCD some project loyalty issues here...

Hope the clearout uncovers some treasures. I am determined to finish a jacket this month which must have been on the needles for almost three years.

I adore the hat and you'll look lovely voting in it. Hope you don't have to wait in huge line ups, I hear they are pretty bad. Didn't you have another dog? Did I miss something? I too have too many WIP and I'm going to have to do something about that. Last night I cast on mittens for my granddaughter without finishing other stuff first, yikes...ciao

It seems I have good company in the can't finish it up category. I hope I do find some treasures Miss.

The lines in my area shouldn't be too bad Rositta. I plan on going mid-day while everyone else is still working. Florida is notorious for their lines.

Ah Rositta, yes, we had another dog. I've been trying to forget about that little experiment in dog rescue. Right now, I'm still shopping for sofas to replace what she destroyed. And a persian wool rug. I did buy a new pair of Keens sandals early in the summer. Couldn't find my orange ones to replace what she ate............... I guess I should post about the trauma.

does duke eat the tramadol willingly? boscoe, who is what you might call a good eater (an enthusiastic eater!) will only take it in peanut butter. and even then he tries to spit it out.

that hat sure is gorgeous. i don't know how you do it.

Laurie, I have to shove the pill down his throat and then he tries to work it out all the while making a sour face. It must be bitter and even though it's the same drug as ultram, I am not willing to taste test it.

That Duke is looking good!

I don't know what the pill is for Duke, but I will guess it is for motion sickness in the car. Our dog goes in every 6 wks and still needs bathing in between, but I can't bathe him as often as I would like. Too busy or lazy.
I see you are using the circular needles and I want to find out more about those. I have some from many years ago, and tried to use them the other night and they felt very awkward. I need to get on you tube and see how they are supposed to be used. Maybe I am doing something wrong.
Now that you have me addicted to knitting, I am going to try to convince you to quilt something. Applique is similar to knitting in that it is a very soothing activity to do while watching TV. I won't live long enough to finish all my unfinished projects. Ha. Well maybe if all I ever had to do was the fun stuff.

Thanks Winifred. I adore my DukeDog.

Brenda, Tramadol is an opiate pain medication. That's why he lies around like stoner after I shove it down his throat. He has horrible arthritis and chronic pain.

Like you, art supplies are my downfall. I buy them even when I don't need them.
