Man, it's a hot one!

Monday I went on a fiber diet and lost almost 2 pounds. I had to do the math there because all I really know is that I donated several hundred grams of fiber. It's all for a good cause, well in this case, multiple causes:

  1. It was just sitting there neglected. It's not like I'll ever be able to knit it all in my lifetime.
  2. It will be auctioned off this Friday and will benefit the local animal shelter.
  3. The space vacated by the old yarn will soon find new yarns moving in.

See? Win-win. I'm looking very svelte these days, or at least my stash is.

So on my way to donate the yarn, I left the house and walked past my next door neighbors. They were out in the front yard in the skimpiest bikinis I've seen since I used to wear one. Music was blasting and they appeared to be having a good time. I overcame my urge to knit them cover-ups right on the spot and kept walking. On my way home, I noticed the painting contractors across the street hanging from their ladders and ogling the almost naked sunbathers. I can't help wondering how that job is going to turn out. Smooth.

Needless to say, it's a sunny 85 degrees in the Motor City. Judging by the looks on the painters' faces, I think it may be a little hotter next to my house.

If it's 85 over there, then it will be coming our way soon.

What have you made for the shelter?
Photos, please :-)

You really don't want to know what I first thought when I started reading this. Hey we had our day when we wore those itsy witsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikinis. There even was a song about it. But I like Rob Thomsass better. I have that cd...love it.

Too funny. It's hot and humid here as well. I feel so sorry for the tourists and campers who came to enjoy the cool mountain breezes.

Ahhhh, the days of skimpy bikinis.
I say, "Flaunt it while you've got it." Some things just don't look the same when you get to be "a certain age."

So, it's a hot town--summer in the city. Is the back of your neck getting burnt and gritty yet:>)

Best of luck on the auction. Great cause.

I loved your post today. Funny, funny. Most of the folks around here frolic like that in their backyards, thank goodness. I would love to try knitting. I've tried everything else. Have crocheted everything from hats to evening gowns. Blessings

North Americans have such a weird obsession with skin. You should see the women in their 60's and 70's even frolicking on the beaches in Greece in the teeniest bikinis. Some even go topless. Even I wear one over there and I wouldn't do that here. In Europe there are nude beaches all over the place. Is there something weird about us or them?...ciao

Miss, I think most of what I'll be getting is fleece to spin. Making my own yarn is so much more satisfying.

Debra, today is 75 and sunny. Much better than yesterday. I'll be spinning dog hair Friday at the event.

NC-it's always hot, humid and rainy when I go to Charlottesville this time of year. If I want to hike I go in the fall when it's cool.

Distracted, my flaunt it days are long gone.

Queen- they had sun in the back but were lying in the front lawn. I think they were doing it to taunt the painters...

Brenda- I never did have a polka dot bikini, but I did have quite a few cute ones over the years. It's been about 3 years since I've even been in a bathing suit. Just the thought of sunbathing makes me wilt although I maintain that my fat would look less fat with a tan. Ha.

Skippy- I believe in high fiber diets. They're good for the artistic soul.

Laurie-I can picture myself knitting that fast, but in my mind's eye, I'm always way ahead of myself.

Definitely us Rositta. It's our puritan heritage that's so hard to shake.

Cute post. It took me a moment to figure out the fibre diet. I'm looking forward to seeing what the dog hair will create.

Sop glad that you get the reality of yo-yo dieting...the fat always comes back!
Good luck with the auction. What a creative and fun way to spend a hot day in the city.

There was never a day when I wore a bikini. Now in my middle age I realize that I spent too much time in my early years being way too modest.

I guess it's better to have roofers gawking than showing their "wares." (i.e. the randy handyman butt crack).

Fun post.

Drat I thought you had found a diet that worked.

It's not bikini wearing weather here at the moment. Also my bikini wearing days are over even though I saw some huge women wearing them on holiday in Rhodes. Must be nice to feel that comfortable in your skin! Have to say they were not a pretty sight though.

Hope those painters are well insured!

Two pounds of yarn is a big heap, for sure. Hope it brings lots of cash for the Shelter.

You do have some interesting neighbors, don't you? Haha.

It was 93 in my neck of the Ozarks today, and forecast says 95 tomorrow. Even the thought of yarn makes we sweat!
