Things I hate

I'm not feeling all warm and fuzzy tonight. What is the point spending an hour at occupational health, getting put on work restrictions that say no lifting, pushing, or pulling anything heavier than 10 pounds and then being sent out, with my strenuous objections, to lift a person twice my weight?

I called in sick for tomorrow.

Let the worker's comp liaison, occupational health and my employer duke it out. I plan on taking motrin and muscle relaxers like I was told to do today, or more specifically, avoiding the things I was told not to do. My briefcase weighs more than 10 pounds for cripe's sake.

Since I'm hurting and feeling cranky, I made a short list of things I hate and thought I'd share.

# 1 on my list of things I hate: obtuseness in an employer. Really, I don't think them dumb or slow. They just act that way sometimes because God forbid anyone put a crimp in their day.

#2 on my list? Getting in line behind people who grocery shop at the drug store.

That said, I went to CVS at 11:50 PM, grabbed a cart and went shopping. I bought toilet paper, coffee cream, advil, paper towels, Campbell's tomato soup, Riesen chocolate covered caramels and a magazine.

Enough said.

I will counter all that I hate with the fact that I do so adore irony.

Take it easy rest a bit knit. If we can't lift we can't work. We have so many devices to help with patient movment - but there is still the risk.

hope you are feeling better soon - bad backs are the worst [like, who am I telling?] so try to it easy.

like your shopping list tho. i'd start with the magazine and the chocolate. ;)

I'm sure you'd like a lot more time to knit, right?
Yes, irony is so rich. Especially when we can see it in our own actions. Nice one.

I hope you feel better soon. I'm sure the chocolate will help... and some yarn... throw in a good DVD and you will never want to go to work again!

OH Rudee, I'm sorry your back is bothering you! I'm with you.. Call off sick; if they can't follow SIMPLE instructions they don't deserve you being there for them. :)
Love your love of irony... Yesterday I forgot Paul's 1/2 and 1/2 at WALGREENS and bought it at the food mart in the gas station!!! I go to Walgreens because the thought of Albertson's or Frys Grocery stores exhausts me LOL

Darn...I thought this job was not going to involve lifting patients. You need a desk job. Take care of yourself Rudee!

OW. that's just WRONG. do you have any flexeril you can take? though i have to cut mine in half, and they still make me drool and sleep.

years ago, in duluth, my wrists flared up with incrdible tendintis. the doctors told me not to do anything that involved a grip for two weeks--not even grasping a telephone. my employer didn't know what to do with me because i wasn't "sick" and so he thought i should still be working. but i couldn't hold a phone, couldn't type, couldn't grasp a pencil.

so what did he do? he made me drive two hours for a film drop. even though i pointed out that holding a steering wheel was also something i should not be doing.

hope you're doing better today.

Hey chick. Sorry to hear about your back. I recommend red wine for the muscular side of the pain. Really! It beats valium, even. Hope you feel better real soon!

Sorry to hear that your back is feeling punk. Maybe some therapy?
