I'm curious why the news stations continue to put all these forecasters and reporters in harm's way. After all, I really am capable of using my overactive imagination. Last night, CNN's Anderson Cooper Show sent a slightly built woman out into this storm. She was holding on to a bush to keep from being spirited away. Do you think it's the fear factor or a type of entertainment? I just don't get it.
I'm looking forward to my sister's take on this storm and her description of what her night was like hunkered down with her friend. I know for certain, she did not get any outdoor photo ops with Stella Maria as her camera woman. She is far more sensible than that!

ETA as of 4:30PM EST, Mares and Stella Maria are OK. No flooding but no power. We went many hours without news and were starting to worry so we were happy to get this little update. According to Mare's husband, her corporate office has lost many windows and the area near her apartment may be close to downtown flooding-we were glad she went to her friend's. I'll be glad when this has all settled down.

I had the TV on for most of the day yesterday and did get to catch Geraldo Rivera getting knocked down and so many reporters going dangerously close to being injured themselves. Personally I don't understand that kind of reporting, but to each their own I guess. Glad your family is doing okay!
Brenda, I think the rest of us up the middle of this country need to watch out for all that water now!
I know!!! We are going to get slammed here I think because it has been really hot and humid all day, like a tornado or something big is about to take place. Our siding on the house is still flapping around from the last big one. Maybe we will fly around and land in your neck of the woods. You could show me how to knit in the round or something.
I am knitting mittens today. Thrummed mittens. Pictures later. They'll be sooooo toasty warm when winter hits next week. (this is michigan after all) When it starts to rain tomorrow (it rained all day today-off and on), I'll remind myself at least I didn't have to shovel it!
I'm glad your sister is ok. I was amazed and irritated that the reporters were out there. Paul had Fox on and I finally asked him to turn Geraldo OFF. I was more interested in the flooding than watching a man too old for that type of behavior hanging on while "trying" to report on a very important event.
