Quick knits

A group of us are meeting once a month to knit for a shelter for women. Our first meeting was last Sunday, and while those knitting with super bulky yarns finished their first projects in one night, mine took me a bit longer.

I chose a hat, Cabled Beret, a free pattern on Ravelry, and knit it with stash...Nashua's Creative Focus in some shade of yummy green.

I think my next project will be with a bulky wool. I'm thinking the Burberry Inspired Cowl (also free) would be nice (and quick). After that, I have to think up a stitch pattern for afghan blocks. Four of them.

What's on your needles?

That's lovely! You're doing a good thing to knit something so beautiful for a stranger.

Oh I love that hat! And that you are finding time to do service work also. Sounds like a great group. We have a group at our church that makes shawls for for seriously ill people. They really do appreciate them. It is funny how few people come to visit when you are at the end of your life. I think they just don't want to intrude if you are not immediate family. Anyway...I really wish I had time to join this group of knitters but I just don't right now. The grand kids are coming first right now. I do however manage to have a blanket on my needles, and another one I finished that isn't completely finished..if you know what I mean.. and some socks in the making.

On my needles,
bunting flags for our Cancer council relay for Life next weekend. I am on a team called knitters for a cure and we hope to decorate our tent with some knitted bunting flags also a knitted KFAC - someone else is doing that.
I have jsut finsihed 3 scarves ( they were made out of the dreadfull furry feather stuff that a lot of non knitters seem to like) to sell on the weekend event. Hiding away is the charity blanket will come out aggain soon. I am interested in the 4 Afghan squares are the Big enought to make one blanket.???

I love that beret and I might just knit it when I finish my sock rush - I'm on the third pair after finishing legwarmers for son's fiancee tonight!
I left you an award over at my blog - hope you like it and do it sometime!
