Playing catch up...

...or who's sorry now?

My nursing license is up for renewal the end of this month and guess who's, oh, 14 or so hours short and can't find the proof of continuing education units (CEUs) for another 8 of those hours?

If you guessed it was me, you win.

You don't win anything special, except the ability to feel smug about being right, or, if you're a nurse and you're up to date on your continuing education, the knowledge that Nurse Knowitall obviously doesn't know it all (and I'm lazy). I hate my predisposition toward procrastination. When will I ever learn that my tendency to be this way always bites me in the behind? My license needs to be renewed by March 31st and I must be able to state the continuing education credits were acquired before I applied for renewal.

So this week, I'll be catching up. Today, I've already completed 9 hours of my education, and I have to say, instead of taking the easy way out, I'm selecting courses that I'm not familiar with, or ones in which I think I should be better educated. I chose an online service that for $39.99, provides unlimited CEUs for one year. This week, I'll squeak out every ounce of value that I can and then I'll get a jump on the next licensing period.

During one of my breaks, I'll be searching through some moving boxes for proof of my missing CEUs. I think they're worth a few moments of my time.

Here and there, I've turned on the news for updates in Japan. My heart goes out to the victims, their families, and the first responders. Though I can clearly see the pictures, I simply can't imagine what it must be like to be in the midst of such chaos and continuing danger. I hope the threat of nuclear disaster abates for them so that they can begin the healing process.

As a fellow procrastinator, I had to agree that we always a) take the hard road to task completion and b) vow to learn from our risk-taking behavior.
Good luck with your search. It's there somewhere.

oooohhhh, I am so sorry. Been there done that. Fortunately, it's painful enough that you won't do it again:>)

Oh thank goodness, no more CEUs for me, but no money either.LOL I just found a new friend on the blogger network and I know her. She sells cards in the Visitor's Center where I volunteer on Friday. She just started a blog and she promised to post some Alaska pictures. Check her out on my Sunday blog.

I totally sympathize. My license is up in June, and I'm always taking classes up to the last minute. I've been successful before in contacting the seminar holder to get missing proof of taking the class.

Did you sell your dining room set?

Procrastinators tend to be perfectionist. Whyt is it about living so dangerously on the edge that we repeat the same mistakes.

My sister did that once with her CE classes. She is retired now and doesn't have to worry with it.

Good luck finding it all. That is so good that you are taking courses that you want to know more
about.

I'm doing the same thing doing some last minute updates and education.

Japan is so sad and there is so little we can do to help. The world has gone mad and the planet is taking revenge, its very hot very cold very wet very windy and 2 major earthquakes so close.

Must take time to hug our loved ones.

Oh Rudee! I have the same problem with procrastination! Clearly my blog would be a case in point.. Good luck on getting all the classes done.. But as I once use to say when I worked in finance.. If it weren't for "month end" NOTHING would get done... I had the news on all day saturday while hanging photos in my office (another chore I procrastinated on) and what an awful tragedy. Hope all is well with you otherwise. (the nursing credentials)

Oh no....I know you will do it Rudee! You may procrastinate but you come through with flying colors in what you achieve.

I hope you find those missing CEU's...I'm so like that , procrastinate about everything. I'm getting better though...

Wow, you're going to be extra knowledgeable for a while after all of this :)

You know what is wierd about being a nurse in Hawaii? No CEU's required.

That's it! I'm moving to Hawaii.

I'm a progcrastinator also. Right now I'm thinking of getting all our tax stuff together for the bookstore, just thinking mind you not doing. What has me so amazed with the Japanese disaester is the way the people are handling this with quiet dignity. No riots, no looting just many souls trying to look after each other the best they can...ciao
