Roots

There.

That looks about right for the amount of caffeine I need to get through a day. Perhaps it's why I can't sleep at night, even though I cut myself off rather early in the day. Truth be told, I'm down to about 3 big mugs of coffee a day and maybe a cup or two of tea. Rather than believe the lies in respect to the harm caffeine may cause me, I'm going to believe in the antioxidant power of the coffee bean. Don't try to dissuade me, because if I don't have my coffee, I look and feel like this:

Coffee was my mother's favorite drink and my dad used to make his own muddy Turkish coffee that I pretended to adore. Maybe I did like it, or maybe I was aiming to please by showering praise on my dad when he brewed that miserable concoction. Whatever.

I'm off to brew a pot of coffee in honor of my parent's memory and then I'm going to make my mom turn over in her grave by going out to vote for democrats. Sorry, mom.

What are you doing on this beautiful, Día de los Muertos?

Wow! I need a coffee maker like that this morning. Wish I were in Mexico today.

Well...first I have to say I love your new look here. My Dad made very strong perked coffee on the stove, and they let us kids drink it in the winter time with half milk and half coffee. So I became addicted very early in my life. I get a headache if I don't have it. I want to try french pressed to see what I think of it. So your Mom was a Republican? I don't know what I am really. I have voted for both parties over the years...so I guess Independent. I have to go vote later after Brian picks up the kiddos.

My little black dog is wearing my red I VOTED sticker on the top of his head. I didn't put it there; it must have fallen on my jacket. I must say that it looks good on him.

My experience w/caffeine (via colas) is that I built up a resistance to it. I could drink a 2 liter bottle and go to bed and fall asleep. I've been off massive caffeine for awhile and if I have a soda after 3pm or chocolate much after that, no Mr Sandman for me!

Those skeleton brides? are kind of cute. And I love the democrat crack - my parents roll too. We don't have ANYONE to vote for here today. Shocking actually.

Don't drink coffee and gave up on hot tea a few months back. No caffeine for me - and god I miss iced tea when we go out to eat.

Okay - so that's what I am doing today - being cranky about my lack of caffeine. heehee I keed, I keed.

Hey do you think your kids and their friend would mind if I went as "Trevor on a stick" next year for Halloween? Just asking.

It takes way longer to stoke up the caffeine levels when you drink tea. Espresso sounds like your top choice.

Hope your vote goes big!

Mmmm coffee! Love it. Don't do tea at all.

I hate elections, all that dross and all those promises they never keep. I bet we have to go out and vote again before too long. Doubt this lot will last too long. Well I live in hopes! Must get my postal vote registered just in case I'm on holiday when they call an election. Must vote in protest against this shower.

Our coffee maker broke down Saturday night and Sunday morning I was searching for the old plastic cone filter I had hiding somewhere. We were both pretty pathetic until we got that first cup of joe down, LOL...ciao

Heehee! Love the pictures - that's what I look like with no make-up. Forget the scrubbed, fresh-faced look; everyone just asks if I'm feeling all right... I too, hate Turkish coffee, not the taste so much as the texture; so gritty and slimy at the same time. The best coffee I've ever had on a regular basis was when we lived in Holland - it really didn't matter where you bought it, 95% of the coffee served was wonderful. Even living in Germany, which is also a coffee-mad country, I can't get the same mellow quality. Love your blog, by the way - my husband used to work for Ford of Europe and often visited Detroit on business but saw very little outside the office, so it's nice for me to get a view of the reality of life there from your perspective.

Hubs went out to vote as soon as the polls opened. I planned to go after work. By noon, I was down with the flu. First election I've missed in twenty years.

My chiropractor maintains that caffeine in moderation is good for you!
