I know I'm faking it. Not really making it.

The shawl.

The shawl is a gauge disaster. Right now it's sitting in the corner--literally--while I think about it. I'm not throwing in the towel yet, but it'll take a bit of ripping back to a point I think is a little more reasonable for a width of a shawl, and then I'll restart the decreases.

Sigh...

To make myself feel better, I cast on some socks. Well, OK, one sock. I wanted to do something in a Fair Isle pattern, but thought better of taxing my brain. Hence, I'm letting the yarn do the work for me.

It's been awhile since I've knit anything with Opal sock yarn, and I have to ask myself why. It's gorgeous yarn and makes for a pair of great Fake Isle socks.

Yummy.

How'd those boys get so old?? What the hell happened?!!
From someone who uses tape to hem pants, I think your knitting looks fabulous

I love the sock. I drive myself crazy with knitting sometimes. Right now I am working on a very simple blanket for the newest grand daughter and I already have 2 small holes showing and I want PREFECTION!

Ha ha...I just see I typed prefection instead of perfection...

Oh I love that sock yarn! I wish someone in ireland would get the idea that socks are cool! I am wearing the lilac ones I made last month all the time - and love 'em! I stitched 3 cute daisy stitches on the side of each. People don't believe I made them - you can buy socks for €2 for a two pack! I am now making patterned socks from a free pdf download
#1 Lacy Multi-Colored Socks (W135)
Using Cascade Fixation Pattern
and they are lovely - I am so enjoying it! But I wish you luck with the shawl. I love the idea of fake isle! I haven't done fair isle and intarsia seems very complex - I've only used knitting bobbins for kids' jumpers with pictures on 'em like helicopters and faces of Dennis the Menace! In Dutch they are called Knitting Fishes and I can see why as they are so shaped!
All the best, Catherine. (Any sock patterns you can recommend/share would be welcome - I'm on Ravelry and Lion Brand (I think Knitty also!)

Gauge can make me crazy. But, I love your coping skills! Opal is my favorite sock yarn. I once found some that I had to get on ebay, from England.
There must be a 12 step program for people like me!

Oh, socks are just the best for in-between almost any thing. Crisis dissolvers, mind resters and perfect for social knitting. Especially the Fake isle ones. Fun without the mind games.
Poor shawl...

My gosh, Simon and Garfunkle are just babies! But then so was I! Good luck with your shawl Rudee. Nice that you're taking a break.
