Bratrayal

I spent a little money this summer on replenishing the contents of my bra supply. Not wanting to be cheap about an article of clothing I spend so much time in, I picked up these torture devices in a bra store. I'm not so certain these bras are any better than my usual Target or TJ Maxx finds.

On Tonday (because while it was Tuesday, it felt like a typical work week Monday), I was doing my best to complete a lengthy start of care without touching anything. I knew there were bedbugs in the home I was in, and I was convinced that if I touched anything, I would be bringing something more than my laptop home with me. If this house, lifted straight off an episode of Hoarders, had only bedbugs as non-human inhabitants, I'd be surprised.

Electing to sit on a plastic chair, and nose to the grind stone, I was plowing through the paperwork as fast as humanly possible, when I became aware of something crawling down my arm. Trying hard not to show distaste, disgust, loss of control or screeching like a little girl who has seen her first mouse, I surreptitiously tried to smack whatever it was until I killed the damned thing.

It was an errant bra strap that had mysteriously come undone.

Good thing I had finished swallowing my tea. I wasn't expecting that!

Your job sure has a lot of challenges.

Eeeewwww! Creepy little bugs!

I understand... I have a hard time spending a lot on a little piece of fabric to keep my girls in line!

It is funny how the mind can play tricks on you. Just to power of suggestion of bed bugs give me the creeps. Your bra strap got you! LOL! You sound like me especially when I am tired.

I honestly don't know how you can work in a house like that one. I think I would want to wear a protective suit to keep the bugs off.

You my dear are a Saint to do the job you do, especially with all the extras.

I have to ditto what Stephanie V said. Too funny! My daughter has to come across similar things at her home visits. So much for the expensive bras. I wish I never had to wear any.

OMG Rudee, what a funny story. I know exactly what you are talking about in the house. When I worked at the dialysis center, though, that was the worst place. Roaches from home in the radios they brought and the lunches, I loved all of my patients there. Just have to know how to get around the critters, I guess. I think I agree about the expensive bras.

OMG! That was so funny! I'm so glad that it was just an "errant bra strap"! If I'd been there and saw a bedbug.....I would have smacked, slapped, jumped, screamed and made a complete fool of myself! You are such a lady!

That's so funny! When I made home visits I had several lab coats in my car to wear when I went into those homes. The instant I got to the car the lab coat was immediately put in a big trash bag and secured. Back then the big bug problem was roaches. At least they were large enough to see easily.

Love it!

Rudee this reminded me of a home visit I did when I was a careers adviser. The daughter had learning difficulties and the mother was supposedly suffering from cancer of the spine. These people had all the knowledge needed and spent a lot of time playing the system I assure you. I discovered later from the school there was nothing wrong with the mother. However they spent no time cleaning the house. I politely refused a seat and a cup of coffee as I avoided stepping in the dog poo! Later I spent many hours avoiding the mother in our office as she tried to get me to get her physiotherapy. Never understood why she thought medical support for mothers was in the remit of a careers adviser for young people. What did I know!
