Example of Useless Time Spent

In keeping with yesterday's post and the general theme of boredom, there are many things I do to waste time. Most of my down time is spent doing something productive, like knitting, but a lot some of it isn't. Between rounds of lace, I've had a game of Text Twist going on Yahoo for about 2 days now.

With trepidation, I began the last round with a point score of 992,000. Only once before have I gotten this high a score and couldn't break the 1,000,000 mark. I didn't do it this time, either, and died a miserable death at 999, 250 points. I got hung up on penury, which means extreme poverty. The dictionary example was, "he died in a state of virtual penury." Well, Mr. Example probably died from that state, but you get the point. He's dead and so is my game.

I guess I best get knitting. One more purl row and then I'll sink another lifeline. I don't want that to die on me, now do I?

It gets addictive when you're trying to get past a certain score

Hey, is the Bobicus thing new? I don't remember seeing it.

Gee, thanks, Rudee. Now I will have to write "I will not go over there" 100 times and hope that curiosity doesn't get the better of this cat.

Miss, yes, exactly.

Debra, just go. Writing 100 times that you won't is its own waste of time.

Rose--Go ahead and click on Bobicus. It's Ravelympics sign up time. I joined team Michigan yesterday.

That is the way I used to be with Tetrus or whatever. I got a hand held one for my birthday one year and finally had to throw it away. Starting geting Carpal tunnel. Now I have Carpal tunnel from blogging and crocheting. Guess I was meant to have CT.

Ooh, games. Don't tell me about more to be tempted by. I'm a hopeless game addict. I've squinched my eyes shut - not looking at all.

oh yes... Text Twist. I use to play it often, but I didn't pay attention to scores. (that indicates my playing level, doesn't it.) I should go find it again.

Well, it all sounds great to me. Whatever relaxes us is what we feel like doing the most. Or that is the way I am anyway. Before the computer, I used to spend my spare time doing pencil word puzzles of all kinds, so computer games aren't much different. I have gotten hooked on some silly facebook games. They are time wasters sometimes...but so addictive.

I'm twitching to go check it out.... LOL! when my mind gets tired of a project I switch temporarily to another. I try to keep ongoing projects to 3 max (right now I have four! oy!) so I don't get overwhelmed by the amount of WIP. And just for the record, housecleaning is NOT considered an optional project. LOL!

Yeah but don't you have to plan on finishing something? I think I've noted that I'm weak in that area. As a matter of fact, I just started some cat balls (insert middle school humor chuckle here)out of One More Skein for Christmas gifts!

I couldn't resist, I checked it out and used up my free hour, sigh. I don't think I'm tempted to buy the game though. Sink that lifeline...ciao

Brenda is right, so many Facebook users play games, constantly. I'm not much into games, but whatever floats your boat, I guess.
