I'm just a soul whose intentions are good

Me thinks some people don't follow baseball and despite the video I posted yesterday, didn't understand my tongue and cheek reference to beards.  For those, I meant no offense and facial hair doesn't really bother me, except to say when its on the faces of San Francisco Giants who swept my home town team in the World Series.  Their beards are a big part of that team's persona.  Even fans get into it and wear fake beards to their games! Maybe if you watch the video, you'll understand it was merely an attempt at humor and a salve for my disappointment.  I had no idea people were so sensitive about beards.  Me?  When it comes to Giants, I now fear the beard!

On to other things.  Family and friends I have along the east coast are safe today and that makes me especially thankful.  Everything else pales in comparison, including losing a few baseball games.  We've had some wind, rain, cold and few downed branches here in Detroit, but nothing to write home about.  Along Lake Huron, fairly far from the Atlantic Ocean, 29 foot waves are being reported.  Yesterday, I saw video of crazy people making the best of the storm and surfing in Chicago on Lake Michigan.  Granted those surfers were clad head to toe in special gear to protect them from the cold, but it still had to be freezing.  It was in Detroit.  I was clad in wool, alpaca and down and I was still cold!

We've been seeing the pictures on the news here, and it's almost beyond comprehension. Glad you and yours are safe

I wore my wool & alpaca & down (? - not sure my coat is down actually) today. You know that stuff's itchy! Hmmm - wonder what I can make myself that's not itchy, but still warm?

I knew you were totally tonge-in-cheek about the beards - ha!

I do have to say one thing about the Giants. They have some very interesting characters! Glad you are doing okay with the storm. Our weather is close to perfect. I really feel bad for all who are suffering right now from Hurricane Sandy.

My Mom was closely watching the Cards and Giants fight it out. She was backing the Giants, seeing as we had lived in California for several years. I suggested she might want to back the Cards instead, since I thought the Tigers could take them. (revenge and all that.) Hated to be proved right . . . I guess I already "feared the beard!"

We wore Milk man & Maid costumes until Melky Cabrera turned out to be juicing. I prefer the beards over that. We're having a good time and appreciate what they accomplished, I didn't think they could beat the Tigers. I think if the Tigers had taken game 4, and it was close, they would have won game 5, then ....

I watched the game and was hoping your team would win...sadly it was not to be. We had a heck of a wind last night with some power outages but otherwise we were luckier than south of the border. We did have a few houses were trees went through roofs and one death from flying debris. We just hunkered down and hoped for the best and got lucky. I did get all my woolies ready just in case though. Glad you are well...ciao

Sigh. I was trying to be funny. I thought my Lincoln Monument reference tipped me off. ;)

Hey, I'm just glad the Yankees got theirs.

("Fear the Beard" is also a James Harden reference for the NBA around my house. It's Fantasy Basketball season!)

Thanks for the Animals clip. I haven't heard that in ages and love a song where I still know all the words.

Sad that we won't get to see the Red Wings grow beards this season, isn't it?

I just mailed a "Made in Detroit" gift basket to a friend in California, the result of losing a friendly bet. Sad to say, but she has a naturally high speed metabolism and won't gain anything from the Sander's ice cream toppings, Better Made chips and Vernor's ginger ale. I gained half a pound just thinking about them.
