Holy Heatwave, Batman!

It's freaking disgusting in Detroit.  Though we've enjoyed some heavy rains over the past few days, neighborhoods around us took the brunt of those storms.  As soon as the rains would pass, the sun would come back out and relief was short lived.  After 5 minutes, it felt like a sauna.  The newscasters said yesterday they were sure all of us were awakened by the early morning thunder.  Not me.  I slept soundly.  Someone I work with couldn't leave her home yesterday due to a tree having relocated itself to her driveway.  She lives a mile from me and still I heard nothing.  We did get some hail on the 4th.  I was on the porch when it was coming down and flying sideways.  It stung when the marble sized pellets of ice hit my legs.  That was one long two day chain of storms that was so hit and miss, I'm sure some got no precious rain at all.

Today's high temp of 100 degrees--coupled with the dew point of 74-- means we'll have a temperature that feels like 114 degrees. While there appears to be a break in the forecast, we've got a ways to go before we can breathe a sigh of relief...let alone breathe at all.

Stay cool my friends.

Your temps look cooler than ours. We still have temps of 103 at 10:30 p.m. Our lawns and flowers are dying, even though we water. What an awful summer everyone seems to be having this year. So glad your house wasn't damaged in the storm. You have had enough bad luck for awhile...

I think we've got the monopoly on the rain. By the sound of it, it's better than that sort of heat

Our front yard is 102 right now - ugh. Yesterday we went to the Cincinnati Museum Center (post to come sometime next week), but today we're hunkered down. MAYBE I'll make Mike take me out for ice cream later. Maybe.

Heck Ruth I'm going to stop complaining about how cold & wet it is here. That sounds horrendous.

Went for a swim tonight but didn't bother to dry my hair, no point we got soaked just running to the car park from the pool. Would have just come out in my bathing costume but it was too cold.

Just as well the Centre Court at Wimbledon has a roof or there would be no finals at the weekend. If it doesn't improve the Olympics will be washed out!

We're never happy with the weather are we but it's going to be 64F & sunny for part of tomorrow. wow a heatwave!

Our power just went out AGAIN. Sigh. It has come back on, but I am not taking any bets. Thank goodness we leave tomorrow.

I sent you the smoothie recipes. Enjoy and stay cool. Hugs. Well, I am thinking about it, but I think we're both too sweaty, eh?

I feel so sorry for you and all the folks without electricity. I can't stand the hot weather. We've been having a heat wave too. Nothing could be worse than last year. We had 62 consective days of temps over 100 degrees.

This sounds awful - the temps. I feel for you.

Your temps are what we are use to dealing with out here in So Cal every summer . I'm so glad to be up the mountain and into cooler temps. Unless I'm wrong we won't have to be dealing with triple digits like I would down the hill.

Stay cool as best you can. I'm sure you've probably read all the tips on staying cool. The one I like is ice in a tube sock and place it on the back of the neck - i would use crushed ice.

I was feeling cooped up (the air has been running for over a week now, not typical for us who like open windows) so I went to a Hobby Lobby and Archivers.

I still feel cooped up, I have a headache (perhaps from an impending storm, am tired (no excuse, just am) and $46 less wealthy.

How are Leo and Hubby healing?

I never used to let the weather interfere with my yarn habit, but the last two weeks have been too hot to spin or knit. This heat-wave is NUTS.

Wish I could have sent that iceberg your way. It would have been a sight in Detroit, for sure.

I'll not tempt fate by commenting on our sunshine. I think I brought it home with me.
