Cause and Effect? The all about me edition.

I've thrown in the towel this holiday season. What will be, will be. The house is more or less clean with my bedroom--gathering site of all things I don't have time to store properly--being the last room to tackle. No baking has been done, but the tree is up, the gifts wrapped and a menu has been more or less decided. Except...as I write this, I realize I've forgotten to order the meat. Duh.

This, the last day of Autumn, has arrived and I've had yet another December visit by Mr. Rhinovirus. Bastard. I wish he'd leave me alone in December. He showed up last Friday with one sneeze and a wretched sore throat as the only clues he'd moved right in. Again. I thought I was making progress on the self care front and felt pretty good last night, but today I feel worse. And whiny.

I called in sick to work on Monday, but worked last night. Of course things didn't go smoothly and my night was rather complicated. It's hard to think when your nose is plugged. Why is that? I won't call in sick today because I'm off until Tuesday after tonight. If I call in sick, I'll lose holiday pay and no amount of stuffiness is worth a day's pay.

Question:

Which of these items do you suppose gave me nightmares last night? And why was Adam Sandler in my nightmare singing the Hanukkah Song?

Maybe a mix of all! My favorite is Vicks but have been known to sleep better with Jack Daniels.

Feel better soon...Merry Christmas.

I sure hope you feel better soon, so you can enjoy your holidays.
Merry Christmas.
Ps I'm willing to bet it was the Jack Daniels :)

I hope you get well soon. That same virus paid me a visit at Thanksgiving. Then it became a sinus infection.

I don't wrap gifts, I give our kids money and they can buy what they like.

Christmas is a difficult holiday for me so just getting through it is an accomplishment.

Mery Christmas to you and your family and Leo.

Oh, no. Talk about kicking you when you're trying to pick yourself up! I've never had nightmares about Adam Sandler - that would be pretty scary. Don't give up on the JD, though.

I can't see things when the radio is playing in my ear, either. Must be about that multi-tasking thing.

Hope you're soon feeling good again.

Oh, so sorry you got a cold, especially at this time of year. If you feel feverish, drink plenty of vodka and orange juice. Feel chilly? Hot Russian tea and rum. Drink until you feel better or fall asleep whichever comes first.

Vick always makes me remember my childhood. Hope you feel better soon

You managed to create a pretty good story out of having a cold. You would make a good writer. I hope you are better by Christmas!

I don't know the answer to your question, but I sure do like your Snowman mat. :D

Hope you are feeling better soon - and I agree, suffering through one night of work with a head cold is a heck of lot better than losing holida pay when you have 5 days off after.

Be safe and feel better soon. :)

I'm going with all of the above!

I hope you at least feel better for the holiday. Maybe someone else will pick up the slack . . . Leo?

I always complain every year that we never get to spend Christmas at home - but then I don't ever have to clean my house or cook do I? I'll shut up now.

Hope you feel better soon. I think Adam Sandler singing the Hanukkah sound would be pretty hilarious & would welcome it over the dream I had last night where I took my laptop apart & it was filled with whole crackers & bugs. Yuck!

I'm going to suggest it was the advil that gave you nightmares. Jack Daniels is a better way to go me thinks with hot water, lemon and honey. Wires for me. Merry Christmas :)

I hear you...never good when you suspect your patients might actually feel better than the nurse. I've had good luck with Airborne, but also my homemade Chicken Noodle soup has 2-3 jalapeno peppers in it as well as a bottle of beer so there's that...a toast to feeling better and pass the Advil!! :>)

Hope you are feeling better now that you are off for a week.

I hope you are feeling better this morning and won't be feeling puny on your days off.

Regarding your comments on my post: Thanks for the info on CND polish. I didn't realize they made regular polish. I will have to get over to Sally's. I had acrylics for a few years and loved that polish stayed on but after removing them and being a year getting my nails back to normal (no infections, just thin and sore) I vowed never again.

I may try the gel at the salon on a pedicure. We're going on a trip soon where sandals will be worn (yay!) and the thought of being able to put socks and shoes on right after the pedicure sounds great. Even with the dryers, I am careful for long time after a pedicure.
