Lovin' It

It's warmed up nicely here in the city, if you can call temps of 100 degrees warm. I'm not complaining...I'm blessed to have central air pretty much whenever I need it, and not wanting to curse myself here, I've not had to work in any homes where the only cool source of air is coming from an ancient fan on its last leg. I did spend one evening in the moth infested home of a hoarder, but I was wearing cotton and stripped at the door when I got home. Don't think those moths didn't worry me. Never seen anything like it in my life. They were everywhere, and with the patient's permission, I spent about 15 minutes sprinkling Oil of Lavender all over the home. I'm not sure it did any good, but it made me feel better that at least I made an effort. Have you ever seen a moth infestation like that? There were hundreds of them.

This morning, I spent as much time in my garden as I could tolerate in this heat and humidity, plucking the silver maple seeds (whirlybirds) that had germinated and sprouted everywhere. While I appreciate the desire of that tree to turn my yard and garden into a forest, I couldn't let it happen next to my tomatoes. There were dozens and dozens of these baby trees all over the place and that was only in the vegetable patch. The temperature looks like it will moderate over the next few days so I'll be tackling the rest of the garden, soon.

Tomorrow there is rain in the forecast. After the deluge last month, we've been bone dry. I've had to get out there and water all of my new plants diligently. Still...not complaining. Really, I'm not.

And here I've been concerned with two holes I found in two shirts - I think I would totally freak out if I went into that house!

We keep pulling up little maple trees from our geranium pot - they're awfully cute, but I'm pretty sure they don't want to live there anyway.

And yes, not complaining yet. Although doggonite I just remembered that I forgot to put my windshield cover up in the car when I got to work this morning - that steering wheel is going to be QUITE hot when I leave this evening. Ouch!

There hasn't been much of a gradual ease into summer, has there? I think they call it spring.

I'm glad that you can enjoy a/c wherever you are. Here when it gets hot we dig the old fan (on its last leg) out of the garage and pray for the heat wave to pass.

Amazing the number of children that maple tees have, isn't it?

Funny...I always think about this song when it gets really hot. Our neighbor across the street has a huge Maple tree, so I know what you mean. I had never heard of lavender oil for moths. Thanks for the tip. I have decided to stop complaining about the weather...sort of. We had an earthquake not all that far from us the other night..or was it last night. Just glad I woke up to a house that is intact.

My flower beds like to sprout sapplings all the time. It would be a forrest around here if you let it.

Glad I was awake for the maybe two hours of spring we had here. It is warm...We have only a/c in the bedroom and I don't want to spend all my time there, so I wander from room to room readjusting the fans and the window blinds.
Thank God for books and DVDs!

Dry and hot here, too.

Yes, I need a wife or maybe a clone!

i used to put those tree thingies on my nose, if you open them up they are sticky and will make a fun nose sticker, what kids used to do for entertainment, huh?

My daughter says it's been 90+ for several days in Milwaukee. If the Weather Channel is credible, look for a major change.

Sems like we live in an inside out world - here in CA in my area it's in the low 70ties during the days! Didn't sit on my deck yet!

Moths, eek. Yuck.

Glad you have the air. Ours is struggling to keep it tepid today because it is so damn hot, but it is all doable. We have lemonade [and if I stay away from iced tea] all should be good. giggle

Oh my not sure I could cope with that kind of heat Rudee. We've never ever had need of a fan in summer here. Global warming is passing us by we're going back into winter at the moment 11 degrees C that's about 52F. Never mind it will be a sunny and balmy 66F tomorrow.

Nope I've not seen a hoard of moths thank goodness.
