Chasing Clouds

Cloud Chaser is the perfect name for a sweater to wear today. Though I'm trying mighty hard by modeling and wearing this garment, it's not helping to chase away our thick cloud cover. I've no doubt it'll rain tonight, but in my vest, and with the help of my sheepy umbrella, I'm ready for this fickle spring weather.

When I make this sweater again, and I know I will, I think I'll try to find a way to lengthen the back. Other than it being a tad short in length for my torso, it's otherwise perfect, really cozy and not too hot.

Four hanks of Lorna's Lace's, Honor, was more than enough yarn. In fact, there's enough left over for a pair of fingerless mitts, or booties and a hat for a wee babe. If you can't find LL Honor (see link for a good option to buy), I think Road to China Light would be a perfectly good alternative yarn. Whatever you choose, make sure it has a fiber content that allows for drape. Alpaca, bamboo and silk are a few that come to mind. Honor is a 70/30 alpaca and silk blend.

It's really sad, but I did run out of this one of a kind yarn that I used to make a sweater for a friend's baby. I still have to sew the seams in the sleeves and crochet a front border. I bought the yarn 5 years ago and there is no possible way to get more to finish the job. Still...all is not lost. I can use a different yarn to sew the sleeves and save what's left for the border. I'm grateful it's a baby sweater and not something big, or there would be a whole lotta griping going on around here. Ironically (or not), the name of that pattern is Little Clouds Baby Sweater.

Hmm. If I want the weather to change, maybe I should knit something that doesn't have clouds mentioned in the name.

Gorgeous! Love the vest - and your hair. I really want hair like that - but I have to lose some weight first. I'd look like a pin head right now :)

I read a blog by another Michigander & this is her last post. "Typical Michigan: In the last 20 minutes we have had thunder, rain, snow & sunshine all at once!"

Do you think such a gorgeous vest could be a weather jinx? Oh, no. It just looks lovely on you. I see what you mean about the length but it's only because you mentioned it. Otherwise...it's perfect. Color, drape, cables, yum!

Wow that is pretty, pretty. Oh and the vest too. :)

I love the drape in the front [collar].

And now I want to go cut my hair. You look fantastic!

That turned out really pretty Rudee. I like the shorter back myself....I think it adds a lot of style. It must feel great to actually finish so many projects like you do. I need to at least show on my blog what I am working on...maybe that would help kick me in gear.

Gorgeous!! Great color!
It's sunny a wee bit south of you, but that really means nothing. They keep talking rain...
Although, who knows, this just might be our one day of spring :>)
Hey, just watched The Painted Veil about 1920's China-beautiful photography, scenery and colors. You might enjoy.

Alpaca and silk, two of my favourite yarns!
It does drape beautifully, you model it very well. I know what you mean about the back, but I think that's the current fashion, as I bought a similar vest recently, actually longer in the front!
As you say, it's one you'll knit again, and you mightn't be the only one to do so!!

It is beautiful and you look very sharp in it. I do have hair like you.LOL. I have seen that pattern for crochet and thinking about doing it. The short back is indeed in, but you a long waisted and I bet it feels too short. It is the style. I am losing weight on my new diet so I just might make that for myself.

What a beautiful sweater. I love the color too. What do you think of the blend? Maybe I should use metal needles instead of Bamboo. Just seems to grab, not slide free enough. Thanks for posting the Picture!

TBills, I think metal needles are the best option. Though there are many plies of this yarn, I found it to be a little splitty. It's not tightly plied. Bamboo needles with the silk would be frustrating.
