Joe's

Up until recently, I've avoided getting snagged into shopping at Trader Joe's.  I'd go in here and there, buy only what I needed, and leave.  Then I found the Druid Circles, and the frozen Mac and Cheese, and the Columbia black pepper encrusted hard salami, and the vegetarian grape leaves.   Oh, and the four cheese flatbread.  I'm hooked on everything in that place including its charm.  So is everyone else in the house.  No longer do they say, "oh, you went shopping."  These days it's, " Oh!  You went to Trader Joe's!"  This is always followed by a raid on the fridge and cupboards to look for the loot, and empty promises to save me some grape leaves.  I joined a Trader Joe's group on Ravelry for the heck of it.  In return, I've been pointed to products I may not have tried otherwise.

Knitting update:  I have tackled trinity stitch.  I wouldn't call myself an expert, and I'm quite certain the Knitting Guild of America would send me to prison for my crimes against knitting, but I've swatched both in the round and flat, and when I pay attention, I don't lose stitches.  I don't think this stitch is one to do while watching Top Chef.

Frog Kissing Update:  I have a visit to the colonial scheduled for noon Friday.  I hope it's as nice as the pictures seem to indicate.

Did I mention that both Charming and the French house are located less than a mile from Trader Joe's?  No?  Charming is closer.

Lisa, I wish I could say I wanted to go to the mainland to pick something up. Perhaps is I lived where you do, I could go without Trader Joes. lol

Betty-shhhhh. I'm rooting for Charming too.

owiatw-I was looking at those pickles yesterday. I'll check them out. I've not bought my wine there yet. Do you have a TJ's up there?

Darn, we don't have a Trader Joe's around here. We don't have anything around here. Maybe my old friend is right, I should move back to civilaztion again.

Looking forward to see which house you decide on. It's exciting to be househunting.

Happy weekend, Rudee!

Hugs,

Renie

I've mentioned this to Brenda in the past. I am a closet knitter. No, I'm not hiding away in the closet, knitting; I have yarn and needles and (*gasp* I hope it's okay to say "crochet" here) hooks and I don't do anything with them. Help me!
So, I'm starting at a "Knit and Chat" lesson-group next week (I was going to go today, but the weather is SO miserable and it turns out I don't have the right needles).
I'm not a nurse. I was a teacher once, but now I'm a poet. I would love if you would spare a moment from your fine blog and check out my blogs: Poetikat's Invisible Keepsakes and Blasts From the Past.

I want a Trader Joe's within walking distance of my house!!!! Or maybe I don't. I've heard some good things about some certain candy they carry:))

Anxious to hear your report about the house tour today.

I guess we're deprived up here in the boonies, we don't have a Trader Joe's in Toronto so I don't know what I'm missing...ciao

Trader Joes....I love that place and this reminded me I haven't been to one in ages. What are druid circles.

Renie, you're still stinging from the ice storm. Civilization is not all it's cracked up to be-and you know that already.

Kat-you can talk crochet here until you're blue in the face. I'm envious of people who can do it, but quite frankly, there aren't enough needles for me and I get confused. I will check out your site. Thanks for dropping by here.

Flydragon-I've avoided looking at the candy. I can't pass up the cookies though.

Rositta-you're hardly deprived in Toronto. You have La Marche-Movenpick. If I had one of those, I'd never cook again.

Sandy-Druid Circles are oatmeal-raisin cookies. They're terrible. Not.

I will be driving 50 minute to go to TJ's tomorrow...

No we have gone to the TJ's that is right around the corner from MLM's dads house.

We have been there a few times. I love it but we live 20 minutes away from one, so it is a once a month thing. One year I bought our no hormone, etc., etc. etc. turkey there when my daughter was pregnant. I could not believe the difference from a normal regular old turkey and the others. Those birds we have been eating from Butterball and Honeysuckle, etc. are FULL of steroids or something. I meant to look into that...but didn't.

Brenda, all of their foods are organic, but I don't know if all of them are so healthy. Still, the prices are right, the selections are unusual, and I love going there for the atmosphere. Twenty minutes doesn't sound so bad. Look at Debra-nearly an hour to get to her TJs!

Went to TJ's today----crazy woman am I for going on a Saturday. At least they put away the kids' shopping carts...

Debra, I go at night on my dinner break. The place is usually empty.

You know I love you, right? But you have to stop with the Trader Joes. I grew up down the street from the flagship store and my entire life - pre-Kansas- had a decided TJ's lilt to it. It was a way of life I never wanted to leave.

But we don't have one here. In spite of my begging (pleading, grovelling, kowtowing) to the VP of new locations,we are still TJ's less.

I envy you more than I can say. From the bottom of my heart. I miss two things about my beloved home state - the beach...and TJ's.

Don't know how you ever left the beach life RC. I couldn't have done it.
