Be careful out there, I think this bug is going around and is highly infectious. I believe I caught this cold virus from Miss 376. In fact, I know I did. There I was, minding my own business, when I caught her blogpost about being down for the count with a mean old bug. I gave sympathy of course and went about my day. Over the weekend, I'm sure this thing was cooking. It gave no inkling though and allowed me to hike a mountain Sunday. When I awoke Monday, it was all over except the whining. I am willing to cling to the belief that this clever little devil jumped through my computer and traveled from England to Detroit to put me down.
Everyone has advice about "cure" so that got me to planning mine. I am going to send my honey to buy me some lemons. I think I have whiskey left from the last time I fought it out with a cold. I make a concoction of honey, whiskey and fresh lemon juice. This afternoon, my honey told me he made up that bs story of the tea with honey and cinnamon. Oy. I knew it, but like I said, I was desperate.
My brother recommended vodka and OJ. Or B&B (brandy and benedictine). What kind of concoctions do you swear by? I can't go another day like this!
Sincerely,
Desperately Seeking Cure

It's always my fault, lol. I am typing with rubber gloves on and a mask so as not to spread more germs. My boys seem to have carried on where I left of!
I love my hot water, lemon and honey when I have a cold The addition of whisky sounds like a good idea.
Get better soon, Jane
Honey, whiskey and lemon juice is what we called a Hot Toddy. Perfect for curing what ails you. Sipping on a pitcher of those while lying in a hot bath for about an hour will fix you right up. You may end up looking like a prune, but you won't care, just be sure you don't fall asleep and slip under the water.
honey helps a bad throat.
chicken soup helps.
sleep helps.
so sorry!
Based on my observations, I would suggest two sticks of tnt up each nostril and a bubble boy type tent to live i while you are filled with this virus.
Secondly, take the vitamin c in mega doses. Twenty to thirty tablets every six hours. It works, I have done it. Lastly, get the vicks and spread on chest and cover with a diaper.
Just curious if this is a flu or cold? And do you get the flu shot? I have never gotten a flu shot. Now I am worried this flu cold thing is coming this way. I am sticking with the Nyquil. Feel better....
Brenda, I think it's just a cold. No fever or aching stuff. Well I ache a little but I think that's because I hiked that mountain Sunday. I usually get a flu shot but haven't yet. I had a higher risk because of routine exposure to people who did have the flu when I worked ICU. Now with hospice, that may be different.
Jane, thank you for donning the correct personal protection that prevents spread of this. Don't you think it's a little late? I for one don't care anymore as misery LOVES company.
Oh Rudee! I'm so sorry! I would suggest Niquel and Muscle relaxers!!!! Sleep through it :)
I love Ther-flu and whatever ingredients they put in their fake lemonade concoction.
But I like the comment about two sticks of dynamite up the nostrils better. Sure cure there!
Feel better!
Those were funny to read! And I do hope you feel better soon. I can't give out any quick cures to anyone! I am still trying to get back to par myself. I usually give in to myself....you know....stay in bed, drink fluids, take ibuprofen and whine!!!! I can do that now cause I don't have any little ones keeping me running about.
Take care of yourself! And "anonymous" must be that loving brother of yours! Why, he must have tried that dynamite up the nostril thing before.
a nice hot toddy: 2 oz dark rum, orange peel, juice of one orange, honey, hot orange spice tea. Simmer all but don't boil. Yum yum. may not cure you but you won't care.
rudee I'm sorry you're feeling so sick. Our Hospice director once told me that to shorten the life of a cold/random illness, stop drinking and eating for 24 hours. I was all, say what? He said it boots up the immune system and helps fight off the bad guys. Oh, and get your flu shot. Even Hospice patients get flu shots in our neck of the woods. I've had the flu and believe me, sista, it was almost as bad as when I had malaria in the New Guinea days. Not worth risking not taking the vaccine.
Lisa, I didn't eat a thing the first day, just guzzled soda, juice and tea. I'm getting my flu shot on Monday. Last year, I didn't do that and got the darn devil in April of all months! It was agonizingly painful and incapacitating. I needed steroids and 3 rounds of antibiotics to get over it-lasted 2 months with the secondary infections.
