Over the ground lies a mantle of white

It's been snowing since noon and it's still coming down steadily. Light, powdery and pretty to look at, it's treacherous for driving. While it's not Snowmageddon, or the Snowpocalypse, or even the Weather Bomb that are the fearmongering buzzwords used to describe this storm front in other areas of the country, it was enough to muck up the works around town. I wasn't looking forward to working in this, but work I did, if you can call it that. Miracle of miracles, for about the second time in a year, I didn't go out, and didn't get a single call or page. All 200 hospice patients needed not a single thing and not one soul on our service chose this evening for an exit.

Tonight felt like the snow days of my youth. I won't get used to it, but it was nice for a change. Instead of sledding and snowball fights, I stayed indoors, ate chicken and dumplings, knit quite a bit and looked for a deal on a Florida vacation for next month.

And yes, that's my mail box still draped in holiday decor. I enjoy looking at it, though laziness may play a role in why it's still up.

May you all enjoy as tough a work day as I seemed to have. Now I'm done talking about it because I'm quite certain that a universal smack down is hot on the heels of this little reprieve.

You broke the first rule in nursing. Never mention the quiet.

Arizona is really quite warm this time of year. Just no water like Florida.

Glad you didn't have to go out in that.

So glad you could stay tucked up in the warm

I've been in for 48 hours now. Lenny asked me last night if I was going out today and I said I didn't know a reason I would.

So I've been reading, napping, doing laundry, eating bean soup!

You should use that photo for your Christmas card! More teeth issues for me; someone out there must be really mad.

Snow is always prettier if you don't have to work.

I stayed home sick from work today (a VERY obnoxious cough which I'm hoping MucinexDM will fix). It's pretty snowy out there right now - glad I'm not trying to navigate it. Although my poor hubby had to go teach an 8:00 class in it.

I have to agree with sapphire on this - always prettier when you don't work while it snowing. :D

Glad you had a nice [safe] evening off. And don't court the smackdown or it WILL happen.

Love the mailbox. Our stuff is still up too b/c Pooldad is still sick, but I love lighting up the night with it. I wn't go past tonight tho.

You can't get any calls when your phone is shut off...Blaming Sprint will only work for so long...

I think you covered all the comforts: food, knitting, reading and a dream vacation. Staying warm in body, mind and soul is the best way to wait out a storm. And a quiet night to boot...well done!
