Hungry Anyone?

I met up with the afternoon and midnight shift cadre of full time, part time and contingent hospice nurses for breakfast today.  We went to the Original Pancake House where I always order The Dutch Baby.  Whenever I order, I really want The Big German which is the large version of the dish.  I have to remind myself that by itself, the Dutch Baby is plenty and more than that is digestive folly.  One day though, I'm going to get what I really want-even if it could feed a family of four for 2 days.

I'm feeling as though I've bitten off more than I can chew with the shawl.  As the submission deadline for the Michigan State Fair approaches, I find myself wondering if it's doable.  There are a mere 16 rows remaining with only 5 of them having lace stitches and then I have to do the border.  I know that doesn't sound like much, but if you take into consideration how many stitches are on the needles, there are 23, 346 stitches to go before I even start the border and then there will be only 9500 stitches remaining.  Only then do I get to give this a bath and then find a big enough place to pin this out.  Oh.  And I need to buy a gajillion pins for that job.

Me and my big mouth.  What have I gotten myself into?  I should have knit the smaller shawl.  You know, I can't take the blame for this all by myself.  There were plenty of you who helped lead me astray.  Enablers.  Every last one of you.  If I have to eat crow, well then, so do you.

Next year, remind me that for a summer project, I can only knit socks.  No shawls allowed.  And absolutely no enabling when I get delusions of grandeur.

Gee....glad you made us go back and take a look. That thing is HUGE!!!!! WHAT WERE WE THINKING.....notice I said we, as in one of the enablers. There should be plenty of Fairs to enter it in, right? When it gets done just find another Fair for it...makes perfect sense to me.

Hello. My name is Skippy and I am an enabler.

I agree with Brenda - enter somewhere else if you are unable to get it done in time for the MSF. I honestly believe it will win whereever you enter it. Although I do understand the prestige of the biggie MSF.

Additionally I am not above bribery to help you along. Name it and I can probably come up with it if you promise to finish in time. ;) Heck I will even buy the pins too.

Bad, ain't I? :P

Tackle that shawl like you would the Big German ~ one bite at a time.

Rah rah, Rudee! You can do it!

Are you sure that's a pancake. Looks more like a Yorkshire Pudding!

Thank goodness my name wasn't on the list. Now I don't need to go to confession for leading you astray!

But it's fabulous! It looks like a Shetland Lace Ring Shawl. How long have you got to do it? If you can, just go for it and leave the house and everything. I'm sure the family will be so proud of you. We will.

J'Ollie gave very good advice. Attack it with gusto and have fun. You'll be proud of your accomplishment. As you should be.

I am not on the enabler list but I do think you can do this, one stitch at a time! Don't count them, just do it. If you can't enter this year, do so next year. You really do not need a ribbon to know it is beautiful...we have all said that.

But it's so beautiful, and when you are finished you will be so proud!

Don't worry about the state fair, just enjoy the journey.

Rudee, I was just catching up on your posts lately. My goodness, the entire dog story, what excitement! I think you want a dog...that sweetie was adorable. About the shawl...you will post a picture soon, right? I wonder how the border looks. It seems to have a lot of detail...I think it's better not to count the number of stitches remaining...too discouraging. I don't think you can call me an enabler, though. Your project is incredible and I'm impressed with any detailed artistic project. I hope you win the top prize at the Michigan State Fair though!!<3

Can you believe. I almost picked up "Learning to Knit is Easy." today, all because of you and your fantastic stories of knitting. So see we all enable, support and all the other things we just do as humans. Sure did like the looks of that Sugar Daddy, or whatever you called it. Blessings

That is one amazing pancake! About the shawl--it is truly beautiful. We both know that I am not one to talk about knitting :-)

I'm Kathleen, and I'm an enabler. In fact, I'm a terminally unique enabler. And I will always cheer you on.

So deal with it.

(You do still like me, right? You didn't take offense to that last statement, did you? I was just kidding. Is there anything I can do to help you finish? Would you like me to fly in and stay up all night and run out and get you coffee so you can keep going?)

See?

All I can say is, go knit girl! You can do it

I'm still impressed. I'm struggling with my one lousy quilt block and you're knitting thousands of stitches!

OMG!!! We have a local restaurant we go to for fabulous breakfasts (our favourite meal, I think). It's called The Rise and Shine and is run by a Greek family of fantastic cooks.

My mother, who is a diminutive 80 year old, likes to order the fruit crepe which comes on a plate about the size of a pizza pan and holds enough fruit to fill a basket centrepiece! It's a real bargoon if you like fruit.

My favourite is the La Salsa and eggs on a small tortilla with guacamole and cheddar cheese. Mmmm. Is it lunch-time yet?

I want a pancake like that for my breakfast. Waaaah.
Regarding the shawl, you've come this far and I know you'll finish it. But maybe you could give yourself a deadline break and enter next year's show. That's still a lot of stitches. I am in awe of anyone who can create such beauty out of pieces of string.

Wow, I am so behind. Just got caught up reading you but had to go back to the older posts in your archives. I really enjoyed reading the different posts and glad Mr Larger than Life's problem turned out okay...

I won't comment on each post cause I have more sites to visit but enjoyed catching up!
